Alice Myrtle Shaiffer was born in Dawson County, Nebraska, the first of 11 children born to George Washington Shaiffer and Clara Lyons. She married Roy Ethfloyd Dittemore in Highland, Kansas March 8 1913 by Pastor, Rev Louis Stumpf. . Roy was the son of William Perry Dittemore and Mary Alice Clifford whose families were early settlers in the Wolf River area of Kansas. Alice and Roy stayed most of their lives in the Highland and Wolf River Township area. They went on to have four children - Eldon Herrold, in 1914; Gerald Claibourne, 1915; Clara Rose, 1924; and Roy Maynard Dittemore in 1931. All of their children have passed away, Clara Rose being the last in 2005. Alice died at the age of 71 in December of 1964 at their home near Polo, Missouri, where they had moved four years before her death. Roy passed away 10 years later in 1874. They are buried next to each other in Highland Cemetery.
