Charles L. "Chuck" Shelton, age 62, a resident of Uniontown, Kan., died Wednesday, March 18, 2009, at the Kansas City Hospice House in Kansas City, Mo. He was born Feb. 1, 1947, in Elsmore, Kan., the son of Richard Shelton and Beulah Alderman Shelton. Chuck graduated from the Bronson High School and later from the Fort Scott Junior College where he played on the Basketball Team. He married Linda Lee Holeman on April 8, 1966, at Garnett, Kan. Chuck furthered his education at Pittsburg State University. For several years he taught science, health and physical education classes at Uniontown High School. In addition to his teaching duties he also coached basketball, football and track. Chuck then served as Principal of the Prescott and Blue Mound schools concurrently. He later returned to Uniontown as Principal and eventually became Superintendent od the USD-235 School District. Following his career in education Chuck worked as an agent for Crown Realty. He was a member of the Bronson Baptist Church, the Bronson Masonic Lodge, and a past member of the Mercy Hospital Advisory Board.
