Eli H. King was the son of Charles King and Abigail (Walsworth) King.

Eli was born in New York, in 1839, Tyrone, Steuben Co., NY, but grew up in Nunda, Livingston, NY. He married Eleanor Louise Alvord / Alvard, 14 Nov 1858, in Nunda. They had three children:

-Charles King, b. 1860 MI or NY - died 22-Sep-1877 in Ionia Co., MI, of Typhoid Fever.

-Anna M. King - m. Howard Dana, died in FL.

-Freddie King, - age 4, died in 1881, Ionia County, MI.

Eli H. King enlisted in the First New York Dragoons, at Nunda in 1862. He served with Capt. Lemen's company and was part of Gen. Sheridan's famous ride to Winchester and the battle of Cedar Creek.

Eli died the week of 2 Jan 1908, at Cobbleskill, Schoharie Co., NY. He was buried at Oakwood Cemetery in Nunda.

Eli's father, Charles King, in Nunda, is buried at Oakwood. Charles wife, Abigail, was declared "insane" and "wandered off" never to be found - so no burial place for her.

The book: A genealogy of the descendants of Alexander Alvord, an early settler of Windsor, Conn. and Northampton, Mass., by Samuel Morgan Alvord, lists Eli's middle name as Henry.
