When Frank and Ruby met, she was a flight attendant (after obtaining her R.N. from St. Mary's hospital in East St. Louis - those pioneers of passenger flight were required to have this medical background) for the early TWA (then "Transcontinental and Western Airline".

Ruby Geneva, or "Ruby Jean", as she was known, worked most of her life (after her wings were clipped) as a nurse in various settings, including general surgery, urology clinic, and geriatrics in a Veterans Administration hospital. Following Frank Boyer's death, she married 2nd Maurice Testerman, and was widowed again before her own death from complications of ovarian cancer.
