Alice Boston, age 93 of Louisville, KY and formally of Pike and Lincoln County passed away Wednesday September 5, 2012. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday September 8, 2012 at the St. Clement Catholic Church with Fr. Lou Dorn officiating. Burial will be in the St. Alphonsus Cemetery in Millwood. Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Friday at the Mudd-Veach Funeral Home in Bowling Green.
Alice Boston was born March 2, 1919, the eighth child of W.A. (Albert) and Laura Mudd. She married Arnold Boston at St. Alphonsus in Millwood, on Jan. 27, 1940. He preceded her in death on Sept. 15, 2001.
Survivors include her children Victor Boston and wife Zola of Pittsfield, IL; Alicia Mehraban and husband Ben of Columbus, OH; Mary Wittenberg of Louisville, KY; and Diane Meyer and husband Andrew of Louisville, KY; her
grandchildren Mark Boston, Sonja McLaughlin, Robert Mehraban, Andrew Mehraban, Kate Wittenberg, Laura Wittenberg, Joe Wittenberg, Ryan Meyer and Sarah Meyer; her great-grandchildren, Tyler Boston, Sean Boston, Chad Boston, Allison Boston, and Connor McLaughlin. She was also preceded in death by her son, Joseph Owen, her brothers Reginald, Phillip, Adrian, Vincent, Gerald, Jerome, W.A., Oscar and John Mudd.
Mrs. Boston lived on the family farm in Pike and Lincoln counties for more than 30 years and in Louisiana, Missouri after
retirement. In 2008, she moved to Louisville, KY and resided at Nazareth Home until her death. After graduating from high school, Alice attended Kirksville State Teachers College and the University of Missouri in Columbia. She taught many years in Lincoln and Pike counties at Hinton School, Raddish School, Louisville School, St. Clement School and at the former State School #14.
She was a lifelong reader, gardener, and traveler. She was skilled at crocheting, embroidering, sewing and cooking. She loved her family and every child she ever met. She participated in several social groups and served as the president
of the Pike County Home Extension Club. She made friends easily and treasured each one.
Mrs. Boston was an active member of St. Clement Parish and of St. Joseph Parish. When she moved to Louisville, KY, she became an active member of the Nazareth Chapel. She attended daily mass, participated in leading the rosary, and enjoyed bible and prayer groups.
Alice will always be remembered as a loving wife and mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and for her sunny disposition, positive attitude, persistent determination, strong faith and generous spirit.
Serving as pallbearers will be Mark Boston, Ryan Meyer, Robert Mehraban, Andrew Mehraban, Joseph Wittenberg, and Tyler Boston.
