HUNTINGDON DAILY NEWS, Huntington, Pennsylvania. April 17,1923
"Miss Catharine Gilliland, of Pine Grove Mills, Center [sic, Centre] County passed to her heavenly home at 12 o'clock p.m. Friday, April 13th, after a short illness of pneumonia. She was a daughter of Joseph and Edna (Moffet) Gilliland and was aged 18 years 5 months and 1 day. The family had just recently moved to the farm of the Misses Millers, near Pine Grove Mills, Center [sic, Centre] County, but had formerly been residents of Shavers Creek Valley, at which place they through their many kind acts and kind disposition have enlisted the deep sympathy of the entire community. She is survived by her parents, one brother, Ernest, and one sister, Madeline. She was a member of the Bethel Church near Petersburg and was an active church worker, and loved by all who knew her. The funeral services took place at Bethel Church Monday April 16th at 2:30 p.m. held by her pastor, Rev. D. L. Schaeffer, with interment at Neff's Mills cemetery."
