Until the last few years he had operated a farm near Alta.
Born in Richwoods township, Peoria county April 5, 1873, he was the son of James G. and Harriett Humanson Kellar and a grandson of John and Hester Frye Kellar, who had settled in this area in the 1830's. He served several years on the Peoria county board of supervisors, was a member of the Dunlap board of education from 1916 to 1933 and was a trustee and elder of the Alta Presbyterian church. He served also as a director of the Alta Farm elevator and was a director of the Dewey rural school district. Highly regarded by all who knew him, he was a man of modest and kindly nature.
Besides his widow and son Elliot of Wyoming he is survived by two sons, Horace C. Kellar of Burlington, Ia., and Irving N. Kellar of Edelstein; three daughters, Mrs. Abigail Shaw of Dunlap, Mrs. Florence Heinz of Brimfield, and Mrs. Lois I Shupe of RR2 Peoria; a brother, John G. Kellar of Bethesda, Md.; a sister, Mrs. George Perkins of Walnut, and several grandchildren.
