Andrew Avila, 68, of Thousand Palms died March 28, 2006, in Palm Springs of kidney failure.
He was born April 2, 1937, to Herman and Nellie Avila in Independence, Mo.

He married Wanda J. Grace on Jan. 8, 1967, in Los Angeles.

He was an elevator service repairman for 50 years.

He was a member of the Elks and Moose lodges and the Southern California Mexican American Golf Association.

He is survived by his wife, Wanda J. Avila; two sisters, Connie Capote of San Pedro and Gloria Howard of Milwaukie, Ore.; and four brothers, Tony Avila of Cathedral City, Tano Avila of Kansas City, Mo., Herman Avila of Thousand Palms and Richard Avila of Oregon; two grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be at 12:30 p.m. Thursday at Old North Church, Forest Lawn, in Hollywood Hills with burial immediately following.
