Corporal Ralph Benjamin Balentine - RA 16320672 Born 13 August 1932 in Traverse City, Grand Traverse, Michigan. He enlisted in the Army on October 7, 1949 and had his Basic Training at Fort Riley, Kansas. He was sent to Korea March 13, 1950. Captured in Seoul by North Koreans on January 4, 1951 and died in captivity June 18, 1951 in North Korea. His branch of service was Armor and his MOS was 4733 as an Armored Reconnaisance Crewman with the 25th Reconnaisance Company of the 25th Infantry Division. He was captured as a PFC and was promoted to Corporal while in captivity. His parents were;: Archie James Balentine (1902 - 1966) and Irene Pearl Keaton (1909 - 1978). He also had two sisters: Mrs. William Meyer and Mrs. Arthur Patterson, both of Traverse City, Michigan. Three brothers: Rex, Ervin, and Tom Balentine, all of Traverse City. Grandmother: Mrs. Suny Pollock of Corsicann, Texas. His body was returned from North Korea and he was interned at Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens in Traverse City, Michigan.
