Hazel Munn Burt
Retired Services for Hazel Munn Burt will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at James F. Webb Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Rob Gill officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery in the Zero Community. Mrs. Burt, 97, died Saturday, Oct. 11, 2008, at Rush Foundation Hospital. She was a member of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church and a former member of York Methodist Church in Alabama. Mrs. Burt retired from the Department of Pensions and Securities in Livingston, Ala. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Survivors include four daughters: Annette Burt Dowda and her husband, Billy, of Meridian, Vicki Jo Burt Scott of Toomsuba and June Stein and her husband, Ron, of Hopkins, Minn., Nell A Boyd of Meridian; two sons, Douglas Alfred Burt and his wife, Lona, of Vance, Ala., and Jeffry Wayne Burt of Greenville, Ala.; 11 grandchildren, Billy Dowda and his wife, Cheryl, Kelly M. Fera and her husband, John, Alan Scott and his wife, Tina, Wesley Scott, Kevin McIlwain, Melinda Brown and her husband, Shannon; Allison King, Susan King, Jeffry Burt Jr., George Burt and Nathan Burt; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Moses Ross Munn and Lela Graham Munn (26 Feb 1890 - Oct 1972); her husband of 31 years, Alfred Alonzo "Lonnie" Burt (5 July 1919 - 20 Dec 1971); one brother; and three sisters. Visitation will be today, from 3 p.m.-5 p.m., at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be her grandsons: Billy Dowda, Kevin McIlwain, Alan Scott, Wesley Scott, Jeffry Burt Jr., George Burt and Nathan Burt.
