He was the son of George W. and Harmony (Judd) Bly. George Bly was born in New York state, removing to Ohio and later to Waupun, Wis. He was a manufacturer, and in 1860-1861 was a member of the Wisconsin legislature. He died in Knox county, Neb., in 1895. Harmony Bly was a daughter of James Judd of Lenox, Mass., and her mother's forefathers came to America in the Mayflower.
George M. Bly came to Nebraska in 1870 and settled in Knox county in 1871, engaging in ranching and buying of land. He was president of the Farmer's State Bank at Crofton, Neb. He was a member of the Republican party.
Mr. Bly was married February 21, 1873, to Mary Graham, daughter of Walter and Agnes Graham, who were born in Scotland.
