Announcement has been received of the marriage of John H. Bear to Miss Florence M. Shannon, on August 16, at Newcastle, Pa. Mr. Bear is a son of Geo. W. Bear, the florist, of near Carlisle and is an employee of the Carnegis Steel Co., at Sharon, Pa. The bride is the daughter of Rev. W.F. Shannan (sic), of Fredonia, Pa., and well known in Sharon.

Services were held Friday at New Cumberland for John H. Bear of New Cumberland who died Tuesday, July 20, at home. He was 81.

The Rev. Earl Kutz Jr. officiated at the service. Burial was in the Plainfield Church of God Cemetery. Mr. Baer was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church.

A son of the late Mr. and Mrs. George W. Bear, Carlisle R. D. 4, he was a retired electrician for Greenville Steel Car Company. He held membership in Hebron Lodge 575 as past master, F&AM, Mercer; New Castle Consistory; York Rite Bodies, Greenville; Zembo Temple; Cumberland County Shrine Club; Antioch Conclave Knights of the Red Cross of Constantine; Acacia Club of Camp Hill; West Shore Men's Garden Club; West Shore Senior Citizens, West Shore Kiewan Kiwanis Club.

He is survived by two brothers, Burnett L. Bear of Pleasant Valley and Galen W. Bear of Carlisle; a sister, Mrs. Anna B. Kohl, Harrisburg, three granddaughters and three great-grandsons.
