He loved, above all things, his family, especially his daughters, Lauren and Lindsay, and his two dogs, Eboni and Onyx. He was an avid snow and water skier and an extreme sports enthusiast. John was known to drive race cars, bungee jump and white water raft. He was an outstanding cardiologist and never tired of touching his patient's lives. He will be lovingly remembered and missed by everyone who knew him.
Surviving John are his children, Lauren and Lindsay Azevedo, both of Hastings; mother, Dorothy; sister, Susan (Richard) Longsworth; stepsisters, Anita Rodenbeck and Mary Kay Anderson; stepbrother, Don Anderson; mother of his children, Martha Hollister; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his father, Gaston; infant brother, Ronald Jonas Azevedo; and step-sister, Linda Boester.
A visitation will be Thursday, May 28th from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th St., where services will also take place on Friday at 11:00 a.m.
