Alexander Burns served in the Revolution in Captain Joseph Martin's Unit under General Christie.

Three brothers of Alexander served with him, but none migrated to Alabama. (Willam, John and Andrew Burns). Alexander and his brothers all took the Oath of Allegiance in 1777, Martinsville, Henry County, Virginia.

The Revolutionary War Pension Application of Alexander is R 6770. He, his wife, and other family members are buried at the Rickwood Caverns Park in Blount County, Alabama.
