Hilda I. Murray, 87, of Jacksonville, FL, died Monday evening at Hartland Care Center in Orange Park, FL, after an extended illness. Born in Waycross to the late Edgar Peiro Murray and Ira Lee Jones Murray, she has resided most of hr life down in Jacksonville. However, she was educated in the Waycross Schools and was a member of the First Advent Christian Church here in Waycross. Ms. Murray was preceded in death by her brothers, James Edgar 'Bo' Murray, Ray Parker Murray, and her sister Iris Freestone.
She is survived by a sister Verne M. Smith formerly of Waycross now of Raleigh, NC, five nieces, Sandra Shute and her husband Bob of Middleburg, FL, Gloria S. Bowen of Waycross, Mary Baker and her husband Ron of Miami, FL, Kathy Best and her husband Jay of Jacksonville, FL, a nephew Robert L. Smith, Jr , of Waycross, and several great nieces and nephews, cousins and other relatives.
Funeral services will be held Friday, July 19, 2002 at 11 AM in the Miles-Odum Fuenral Home Chapel with burial in Oakland Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 7-9 pm at the fuenral home.
