Gilbert ("Gibb") Sylvester Asbury was born in Vernon County, Wisconsin (southwest corner of Wisconsin) and his future wife Anna Eliza Wright was born in Allamakee County, Iowa (northeast corner of Iowa), so they were both born not far from each other, but married on February 15, 1899 in Allen, Dixon County, Nebraska (some 350 to 400 miles from where they each were born). Since Gibb was a miller by trade, as was Anna's father, Lyman Granger Wright, I can only assume that Gibb & Anna came together, somehow, as the result of some relationship established between Gibb & Lyman that originated before the Wright's moved to Dixon County, Nebraska sometime between 1876 & 1879. Their oldest son, Earle Wright Asbury was born December 21, 1899 in Allen, Nebraska, shortly before they and Anna's father, Lyman Granger Wright relocated to Waterville in Douglas County, Washington, where they are found in the 1900 Census.

Gibb engaged in farming and milling in Dixon County, Nebraska and then in Southeastern Washington, as well as building a flour mill with his father-in-law, Lyman Wright in the early 1900's. Later on, he became engaged in the Brewster, Washington school district and was a janitor with the schools there in his later years. Gibb and Anna were the parents of five daughters and two sons.
