The Villages – Fred Angel, 91, died at The Villages Regional Hospital on April 10, 2010. He was born in Franklin County, North Carolina and moved to this area from Springfield, VA in 2003. He was a retired LTC in the US Army serving 27 years, serving in WW II and Korea; and 15 years in the Civil Service US Army MATERIAL Command in Alexandria, VA. Mr. Angel was a former member of the Springfield United Methodist Church and a founding member of Northern VA Brittany Club and Masonic Lodge, Des Moines, IA. He was also a Gold Medal Winner of the Golf Senior Games in The Villages. Fred enjoyed golf, hunting, Field Trialing, and was an avid Washington Redskins Football Fan. He was a proud member of the Lawson Loop ROMEO Men's Breakfast Group. Survivors include his son, Fred O. Angel, Jr.(wife Holly), Midlothian, VA and daughter Rebecca Barrett (husband Jerry), Lake Mary, FL, and two grandchildren, Fred O. Angel, III and Mary E. Angel. He was preceeded in death by his loving wife of 67 years, Katherine B. Angel who passed away on August 16, 2009. They were married on May 2, 1942. Service and interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery on September 10th, 2010
