VINTON — Sondra Lynn Beard Basco, 54, passed away at her residence in Vinton on Feb. 19, 2008, at 1:30 a.m. after being diagnosed with lung cancer in November 2007.
She was a native of Vinton. She will be remembered by all for her love and concern in foster care and day care. She enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, yard work, cookouts and cake decorating.
Special thanks is appreciated for the support from her father-in-law, George Basco Sr. and wife Wanda Basco of Deville, La., and also the wonderful staff at West Calcasieu Cameron Hospital and Lake Charles Memorial Hospital.
Survivors include her husband of two years, George "Junior" Basco of Vinton; one daughter, Michelle Miller; two sons, Brian Miller and Jeff Miller and wife Tish, all of Vinton; parents, Leroy and Margaret Beard; three sisters, Connie Gremillion and husband Gary and Catherine Dugas and husband Ronnie, all of Vinton, and Bobbie Thomas and husband David of Carlyss; one stepdaughter, Christina Fodrie and husband Jeremy of Sulphur; three grandchildren; and numerous nephews and nieces and in-laws.
Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, in Crossroads Baptist Church, La. 109 in Vinton. The Rev. Robbie Tibbitts will officiate. Burial will be in Niblett's Bluff Cemetery. Her visitation will be 2-9 p.m. today in Hixson Funeral Home of Vinton and 9-10 a.m. Thursday in Crossroads Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made at Capital One in Vinton for burial and medical expenses. Words of comfort may be shared with the family at www.mem.com.
