Lynn Carl (Lindy) Adolphson, 85, of Noblesville, IN passed away peacefully on March 15, 2013.
Lynn was born on the family farm in Argyle, MN on August 3, 1927 to the late Carl and Florence Adolphson. He was always so proud that all four grandparents came from Sweden and settled in the Argyle area. He received his degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Minnesota.
In 1954, Lynn was drafted by the U.S. Army and stationed at Dugway Proving, Ground in Dugway, Utah. Upon receiving an honorable discharge, he married Vivian Ulrich, and she preceded him in death. He lived with a smile and left a smile on those whose life he touched. Lynn loved family, church, singing, choir, reading and sports (mainly the Minnesota Twins, St. Louis Cardinals and the Indianapolis Colts). He also had a great passion for gardening and travel. He treasures his membership with Bethlehem Presbyterian Church.
He worked at Archer Daniels Midland Company for 36 years mostly as a manager of Soy Lecithin Sales. This job gave him the opportunity to travel all over the world. In 1988, he married his best friend, Joan Galloway in Honolulu, Hawaii. Lynn courageously dealt with Parkinson Disease for 20 years. He always had a positive attitude and never complained. The Parkinson support group "Sticks" Second Presbyterian Church, was tremendously helpful in helping Lynn and Joan deal with this disease.
He leaves behind to cherish his memories a loving wife, Joan Adolphson; children, Cindy Sullivan (Dennis); Dr. Barth Adolphson (Lisa); Pete Adolphson; Sheri Galloway; Rita Roosevelt; and Jodi McMahon (Tim); 14 grandchildren, Oliver (Becca); Lydia; Lucus Lynn; Phoebe; Ryan; Jim; Tess; Alex; Brooke; Maxx; Sophia; Tim; Lexi; and Meg; sisters, Fern Lundgren; Joy Pearson (Jim); Fae Erickson; Carolyn Hess of Minneapolis area; and Kathleen Riopelle (Earl) of Argyle, MN; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Vivian; daughter, Miriam Wendling; stepson, Gary Galloway; and brother, Dale Adolphson.
Services to celebrate Lynn's life will begin with a visitation at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at Bethlehem Presbyterian Church, 4135 Mt. Auburn Road, Decatur, IL 62521. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Lynn's resting place will be at the Star of Hope in Graceland Cemetery, Decatur, IL.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Tetrick, Dr. Baach, Dr. Sharp, Dr. Beristain, Dr. Haller, Karen Griffin, Hospice Seasons Care, the staff at Prairie Lakes Nursing Home and the staff at Community North Hospital, Indianapolis for all the care and compassion shown to Lynn, Joan, and the family.
