Wayne William "Bill" Bartlett, 76, was a son of Frank Russell and Eleanor Dorsey Bartlett.
Wayne graduated from Griggsville High School in 1949 and attended Western Illinois University, Macomb, IL. He returned to farming and was drafted into the U.S. Marine Corps where he was stationed at Camp Pendleton, CA and the Marine Reserves in El Paso, Texas.
On December 12, 1952, he married Alice Mary Moore at the Chapel on the Camp Pendleton Marine Corp base in Oceanside, California. She survives along with two daughters, Debra (Steve) Greenand Chris (Russ) Humphreys, four grandchildren, Danielle (Ian) Hunt, Nicole (Mike) Weller, Matthew Green and Melinda Green, one sister Karen (Harry) White.
After farming in Griggsville for 7 years he moved the family to Macomb to continue his education. He graduated from WIU in 1964 and Bradley University with a Masters in 1968. He taught Business Education at Stronghurst, Illinois for 3 years, and then he taught at Kewanee High School for 25 years. Wayne retired in 1991.
He enjoyed spending time with family, traveling and cruises, Florida, collecting antiques, furniture refinishing, gardening, genealogy, and needlepoint. He was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Kewanee serving on many different committees. Wayne was a member of the IEA-NEA, Illinois Retired Teachers Association, and the Henry County Historical Society.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Donna Rieger, brother Donald Bartlett, and great-granddaughter Regan Hunt.
