Beckette was born in Catlettsburg in the state of Kentucky, when enlisted he was 21 8/12 years of age and occupation machinist, brown eyes, brown hair, ruddy complexion, 5 feet, 5 inches, given under hand Huntington WV July 30 1929.by Lt. Col. O.A. McGee Cav. (DOL) 100th Division actg. Adj. Gen. (Letter also in my possession from his commanding Gen McGee dated July 31 1929 addressed to my grandfather Clarence saying he must come in and sign his honorable discharge. MARRIAGE: Clarence E. Beckette married Mary E. Baugh on Oct. 20 1934 in Staunton, VA by Elmer D. Joy minister of Pilgrim Holiness. Husband age 29 single born Catlettsburg, KY mailing address Staunton, VA, wife's age 17 born Staunton, VA mailing address Staunton, VA. parents of husband Ezra W. Beckette and Almedia Null. parents of wife Benjamin K. Baugh and Edith V. Froom. occupation of husband clergyman. Marriage Certificate Oct. 20 1934. (Family bible has article which says m. Oct 20 1934 by Rev. Elmer D. Joy pastor of Pilgrim Holiness Church of Staunton. They met while granddad was preaching in Staunton. I have a copy of her diary and his diary for this time period in their lives.)

Charles Springate; bur. Mt. Carmel Cem.; fun. dir. Charles Zeiler. pronounced dead at City Hosp. (Mom said he had heart attack on bus after coming to hosp. to visit mom when she had given birth to me. He had preached the night before at a church in West Baltimore.)
