He was born Kornelis Aggen in September 1861 in the tiny country hamlet of Wierhuizen, in the former -until 1990- municipality Eenrum, located in the northwestern part of the Dutch northeastern province Groningen, son of the 51 years old day-laborer Jan Aggen and day-laborer Luddina Wiersema.
On September 18, 1859 his brother Kornelis Aggen, farm hand, died in Wierhuizen at the age of 16 years.

On April 15, 1873 Kornelis' 15 years older brother Reinder Aggen (27, Dutch Reformed, less well-to-do, [day] laborer, see Find A Grave Memorial# 129890038), his wife Lena VanWarfum (27, Lina van Wartum, born January 1845 in Leens, Groningen, see Find A Grave Memorial# 129890031) and their sons Jan (3) and Simon arrived aboard the ship called "Minnesota" at the port of New York, Castle Garden. They departed from Eenrum and their destination was Grand Haven on Lake Michigan in the southwestern part of Michigan.

On April 13, 1878 Corn Aggen (16 years old, farmer) 140199347), his brothers S[teffen] Aggen (23, farmer Find A Grave Memorial# 120798986), Johann[es] Aggen (20, farmer, Find A Grave Memorial# 120448147), Jacob Aggen (29, farmer, Find A Grave Memorial# 120798545), Jacob's wife Jenna (Teunje, 30) and their children Jan (2) and Stanger (Stientje, 1) arrived aboard the ship called "Switzerland" at the port of New York, Castle Garden.

On April 14, 1883, after 5 years of being in the USA, Korneles aka Cornelius Aggen was naturalized by a court in Cook County, Illinois, very probably located in Chicago, and became an American citizen.

On April 15, 1889 Cornelius Aggen married in Cook County, Illinois the six years younger Janna Smit, who was in born in the country village of Westeremden, located in the midnorthern part of province Groningen, daughter of skipper Pieter Smit and Annechien Torringa, who married on May 27, 1864 in the country village of Adorp, just north of the city of Groningen in the northeastern part of the Netherlands. Her parents died in the USA (too).

On May 4, 1890 they had in Chicago, Cook County, Illinois son John and on 26 August 1892 daughter Annie Aggen.

In June 1900 Cornelius Aggen (38, born in September 1862 in Holland, immigrated in 1878, 10 years married, farmer), his wife Jennie (32, August 1868, Holland, immigrated in 1889, mother of 1 deceased and 4 living children), their children John (10, May 1890, Illinois), Annie (8, August 1892, Illinois), Peter (5, September 1895, Illinois) and Deanie (1, May 1899, Illinois) were living on a rented farm in Lake Township, Ward 31 of [South] Chicago, Cook County, Illinois.

In May 1910 Cornelius Aggen (48, immigrated in 1878, farmer), his wife Jennie (41, immigrated in 1888, mother of 1 deceased and 7 living children), their children John (19, farm laborer), Anna (17), Peter (14, farm laborer), Dena (10), Alice (9, Illinois), Cornelius Jr. (6, Illinois) and Henry (4, Illinois) were living in Ustick Township, Whiteside County, located in the northwestern part of Illinois. The county is on the west bounded by the Mississippi River and its seat is Morrison. Former U.S. president Ronald Reagan was born in the Whiteside County community of Tampico.

In September 1910 Cornelius Aggen died at the age of almost 49 years of stomach cancer in a hospital in Clinton in Iowa, on the other side of the Mississippi River. He was buried in the Mount Greenwood Cemetery in Chicago, Illinois, next to his brother Jacob Aggen in Jacob Aggen's family lot. Cornelius does not have a headstone. His wife and children are all buried in a different cemetery.

In January 1920 his widow Jennie Aggen (51, immigrated in 1889) was still living with her children John (29, farm laborer), Peter (24, farm laborer), Anna (21), May (19), Alice (18), Cornelius (15) and Henry (14) on their own farm in Ustick Township, Whiteside County, Illinois.

In April 1930 his widow Jennie Aggen (61, farmer), her children John (39, farmer), Anna (37), Cornelius (25, farm laborer) and Henry (23, farm laborer) were still living on their own farm in Ustick Township, Whiteside County, Illinois.

In April 1940 his widow Jennie Aggen (71) and her children John C (49, single, farmer), Anna (45, single) and Henry (34, single, farmer) were living on their own farm, worth #3000, in still Ustick Township, Whiteside County, Illinois. They lived in 1935 in the same house.

In September 1941 his widow Jennie died at the age of 83 years in Ustick Township, Whiteside County, Illinois. She was buried in Grove Hill Cemetery at Morrison, the seat of Whiteside County, Illinois.
