Lamanda was the daughter of Thomas F. Berry and Susan E. Kirkpatrick. She grew up in Rankin, Ellis County where her father worked in a general store run by John Albert Butler. Lamanda married Albert Weston Butler, son of John Albert, in Hillsboro on 17 Sept 1916 and afterwards lived in Blooming Grove.

Lamanda and Albert had two children. A daughter Bertha was born in July 1917. Then, on 14 Apr 1919 a son, Albert L. Butler was born. Lamanda died from the trauma of childbirth.

The new born son was placed in the care of a married cousin, Walter Snead Wolverton who later adopted him and gave him the name Wilson Albert Wolverton and moved to New Orleans about 1923. Her daughter Bertha was placed with her husband's parents, John Albert and Lizzie Butler, who moved to Jones County, Texas in the early 1920's. Lamanda's husband moved to Vernon in Wilbarger County where he worked in the oil fields. He later joined his parents in Jones County and helped raise his daughter Bertha.
