Albert Boyer War Veteran
Wellknown Watchman in the shop yard Juniata will retire Nov 1st in account of having reached te age limit.

Mr Boyer was born in Shiremanstown Cumberland County on Oct 5 1844
coming to Altoona at the age of 10 with his parents. His father for many years conducted a harness making and upholsteing establishment here.

Young Boyer was just learning his trade of harness making  when the civil war broke out and with  many Altoona boys joined the 125th Pennsylvania, he enlisted in thet Regiment. He engaged in many battles in Antietam and Chancellorsville 

Later he served 3 month in the 46th Pa reserves organizer for state defense. 

After the war he resumed his trade worked untill Jan 1 1877 when he entered the service with the Pennsylvania Railroad. Worked a different Shops there Boiler,Blacksmith, Machine, Then his last transfer was a Watchman for the Juniata Shop yard

A Civil war Veteran and Former Altoona resident died at  the  home of his daughter Mrs H Friedlander of Alexandria Va. yesterday at4:30 O'clock with whom he made his home with for the past three years. He was aged 77ys 6m and 5 days at the time of his death.  
Mr Boyer retired with the Pennsylvania Railroad of this city and resided here until 3 years ago when he went to Alexandria to make his home with  his daughter. 
He served in the Civil War having been member of Company D 125th Pennsylvania Vol. 
He was a life long member of the Methodist Church in this city. He leaves three children Mrs H.D. Herr of this city Mrs H. freidlander of Alexander Va. whos home he died and Frank Edmond Boyer of Washington D.C. 
The remains may be viewd at the Stevens Mortuary Chapel on 8th Ave any time Saturday.
