Mrs. Bessie "Betty" Abernathy, 91, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2014. Graveside services will be at Williams-Southside Memorial Park. Collier-Butler Funeral and is directing. Mrs. Abernathy was a lifelong resident of Southside and a member of Southside Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, William "Bill" Abernathy; parents, Albert and Edna Day; sisters, Thelma (Paul) Fox, Velma (Clark) Lewis, Essie (Troy) Duncan and Agnes (Clyde) Stansell; and brothers, Gilbert (Mullice) Day and Albert (Winelle) Day.
