"Eyes bright like a dove
A gentle heart filled with love
Her hair was soft and smooth
And every step was graceful when she moved
Her sweet kiss I have sorely missed
My spirit had loved her from the start
And I grieve for how soon she had to part
When she left my heart strings strained and tugged
But the path of God I dare not judge
This soul whom all my love went
Was to the world just a common rodent."

Stellie was the first rat I ever owned. She set the tone for my love for these amazing animals. She was fat and healthy, I called her my bean burrito. She loved baths and climbing around in her cage with her companion Belle. She was loved by all who met her and was the inspiration for the poem above. Because she lived only two short years I learned quickly that you give your heart to these ratties in a matter of weeks and all too soon they're gone. Stellie passed away one night while I slept. My mom went up to go to her bathroom and Stellie had been staying in there because she had been acting differently like she was slowing down. My mom said she was on her way back to bed when she looked over and saw Stellie watching her at the bars of her cage. My mom picked her up and she died in her arms. It comforted me to know that she was held when she passed. How my mom and I cried...I will always love and cherish the rat who first entered my heart. I miss her kisses every day. I will see her again in Heaven, I know Jesus is watching over her and she's playing there.

You are loved and missed every day...

The Rainbow Bridge Poem:
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
