Prior to 1830 he married Asenath Winsor the daughter of Olney and Abigail (Brown) Winsor. Their family included a son (Amos) and a daughter (Mary Almira). Rensselaer Bowen died 26 April 1882 at the age of 80 years, having survived the wife by seven years.
