Marian Blanche Berry Baker, 86, passed away on July 19, 2012 at the home of her daughter in Mims, Florida.

Born on October 18, 1925 at the Berry family home in Bloxom, Virginia, she was the daughter of Millard Fillmore Berry and Hazel Powel Berry, who are both deceased.

Marian was a graduate of Bloxom School and was a track and field superstar. As a farmer's daughter she worked tirelessly in the fields and loved dancing, going to the movies in Parksley, and catching crabs on her favorite docks from Seaside to Guard Shore. Her only other favorite that she never got tired of eating is fried shrimp.

She leaves behind her husband of more than 66 years, Thomas Bates Baker; two daughters, Freda B. Sims and her husband John Sims of Marietta, Georgia and Diane B. Parker and her husband Edgar D. Parker of Mims, Florida; her sister, Shirley Edwards and her husband Ronnie Edwards of Melfa, Va.; her brothers, Carwin Berry of Bloxom, Va. and Millard F. Berry, Jr. of Salisbury, Md.; 4 grandchildren; and 2 great grandchildren. Marian was predeceased by her brother Bill Berry of Accomac, Va.

A memorial service will be held at the Williams Funeral Home in Parksley, Virginia on Saturday, August 18, 2012 at 2:00 PM.

Memorial donations may be made to the Hospice of the Eastern Shore, 165 Market Street, Suite 3, Onancock, VA 23417.
