A Mass of Christian Burial for Herbert John Bange of Eolia, MO was held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 27, 2007 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Elsberry. Fr. Raymond Hager, church pastor, officiated with burial in Millcreek Cemetery near Silex, MO. Serving as pallbearers were Bill Lagemann, Robert Gilbert, Mike Bange, Carl Gray, Dale Gray, Paul Bange and Bill Harrison. Honorary pallbearers were Ben Hall, Louis Bush, Gerald Taylor, Joe Hoff, Walter Hoff, Dennis Bange, Robert Watts and Gregory Bange.
Mr. Bange, 72, died early Wednesday morning, April 25, 2007 at St. Joseph Healthcare Center in St. Charles, MO. Born June 28, 1934 in Sanborn, IA, he was the son of Valentine Henry and Genevieve Theresa Friedrich Bange. He was united in marriage on February 8, 1964 in Elsberry, MO to Darline Gray. This union was blessed with six children: Jeff, John, Theresa, Suzanne, Katrina and Chris. He was employed for many years as a yardman/driver for the Annada Elevator in Annada, MO, retiring in 1999. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Valentine and Genevieve Bange; and four brothers: Cecil Bange, who died as a young child, Joe Bange, who died in 1989, Francis Bange, who died in 1992, and Arthur, who died in 2006.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 43 years, Darline Bange of Eolia; three sons: Jeff Bange and his wife, Kim, of Eolia; John Bange of Elsberry, Missouri, and Chris Bange and his wife, Emily, of Fayette, Missouri; three daughters: Theresa Reed and her husband, Denis, of Annada, Missouri, Suzanne Hall and her husband, Rob, and Katrina Bange, both of Eolia; and ten grandchildren. He also leaves one brother, Bernard Bange and his wife, Donna, of Elsberry; two sisters: Isabelle Capps and Clara Hammond and her husband, Manford, all of Elsberry; two sisters-in-law: Louise Bange and Alicia Bange, both of Elsberry; several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Friday, April 27, 2007 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry. Visitation will continue from 9:00 a.m. until time of the service at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 28, 2007 at the church. Memorials may be made to Masses or American Lung Association in care of Carter-Ricks Funeral Home, 107 South Fifth Street, Elsberry, MO 63343.
