Birth: Jan. 2, 1810
Northumberland County
Pennsylvania, USA
Death: Dec. 25, 1893
Canton
Barron County
Wisconsin, USA

Alexander came to Wisconsin from Pennsylvania as one of the first settlers in Sauk County. He was known for his preaching; although he wasn't a preacher for a particular denomination he was very well versed in the Bible. He spoke anywhere and anytime he could gather an audience. The Seventh Day Adventists in Reedsburg have claimed him as one of their own and named a home for the elderly after him. I know he did advocate observation of the Sabbath on Saturday as according to my mother, that was what her father William, Alexander's son, believed. Alexander was one of the original settlers of what was to become Reedsburg. Two children died and are buried there and two others, including my grandfather, were born there.
The birth date of 1810 appears to be more accurate than that on the marker. An error was probably made when the new marker was installed.
