WORKER KILLED BY SHOCK FROM ELECTRIC WIRE
Nels Erickson, Foreman of
Loses Life at Salmon
Nels Erickson, a foreman in the employ of Erickson Construction Company, was instantly killed at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon when he come in contact with a high tension wire while at work on a bridge in the process of construction at the foot of Fifteenth avenue northwest, on Salmon bay.
Erickson's death was witnessed by no one. His body was found in a trench six feet below where he had been working. He was seen by other workmen about ten minutes before his body was found.
Dr. C.W. Knutson hastened in an automobile to Woodland park, where a pulmotor was procured, but application of oxygen failed to restore life. Following an examination Dr. Knutson said death must have been instantaneous. The wires which caused death contain 2,200 volts and are used for power purposes in the construction of the bridge.
Erickson is survived by a widow and three small children, who reside at Dexter avenue and Newton Street, Ballard. The body was taken to the Butterworth & Sons undertaking establishment.
Erickson's death makes the third accident, though the only fatality, due to live wires within the last week. An investigation is being conducted by Deputy Coroner Frank Koepfli to determine if Erickson's death was due to faulty insulation.
