Services funeral Home's Union for Paul Balkcom, 77 of Natchez, who died Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2001, at his residence, will be held at 1pm, Saturday at Laird Funeral Home's Union Street Chapel with the Revs Steve Pearson and Lou Knighton officiating.
Burial will be in the Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Laird Funeral Home. Visitation is from 5 to 7 pm today and from 11:30 am until service time Saturday at the Funeral home.
Mr. Balkcom was born April 8, 1924, in Dolham, Alabama; the son of George W. and Minnie Lee Tice Balkcom. He was a member of Lovely Lane Methodist Church, a U.S. Veteran of WWII, and a retired retail grocer.
Mr. Balkcom was proceeded in death by his parents; a sister , Mattie Lou Mathis and two sons; AD Balkcom and Burl Balkcom. Survivors include his wife, Jeanette Smith Balkcom of Natchez; two daughters, Debbie Balkcom of Natchez and her husband Bob, of Baton Rouge, and Janice Balkcom Peacock of Natchez and her husband, Jerry, of Huffness, Texas; seven grandchildren, Jason Berggren and his wife, Bonnie, of Davie, Fla; Christie Reed and her husband, Aaron, of Salisbury, MD; Jeri Lynn Davis and Chris of North Kingstown, RI; Cody Peacock of Huffiness, Texas, Peyton Edwards and his wife, Rebecca, of Denham Springs and Brooke Edwards of Baton Rouge; Two sisters, Mary Adkins and Yvonne Godwin; three great grandchildren, Kenneth Hollier, Joshua Berggren, and Kylie Davis.
Pallbearers will be Michael Washington, Thomas Smith, Charles Smith, Peyton Edwards, Dave Rosinski, Cody Peacock, and Reggie Crawford. Honorary pallbearer will be Bill Casseis.
