Services for Ardath L. Hawkins, 88, of Clovis will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Steed-Todd Chapel in Clovis. The Rev. Billy Hines will officate. Burial will follow at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens in Clovis.
Steed-Todd Funearl Home is handling arrangements.
Mrs. Hawkins died Tuesday at Plains Medical/Clovis. She was born Oct. 8, 1908, in Laurel, Miss.
She married Jesse Hawkins in 1968 in Roswell She had been a resident of Clovis since 1968, founding Hawkins Kindergarten in 1969 and retiring from teaching in 1994. She started the special education class at Central Baptist Church in 1969 and taught that class until her recent illness. she was a member of Central Baptist and a life member of both the Retired Teachers Association and the Night WMU Circle.
Mrs. Hawkins is survived by her husband, Jesse Hawkins of Clovis; one stepdaughter, Susan Girary of Fullerton, Calif; two sisters, Laura Hilton of Laurel and Ruth Ates of Jackson, Miss; three sisters-in-law, Lois Burmeister of Clovis, Nellie Bonner of Clovis and Tina Faye Jolly of Amarillo.
Casket bearers will be Ralph Phillips, Joe Carpenter, Leon Kelly, Carol Hendricks, Jimmy Bonner and Eddie Bonner.
Honorary casket bearers will be Jamie Lucus, Gordon Miller, Dee Roberts and the deacons of Central Baptist Church.
