Mrs. Weslynn Spriggs Bates, age 56, went to be with the Lord at Baptist Hospital East at 1:00 AM, March 30, 2015. Her loving family was by her side. Weslynn was born to the union of Wesley E and Versie Levada Spriggs on July 18, 1958, in Little Rock, Arkansas. She accepted the Lord at an early age and was baptized. She was a member of Love Fellowship Ministries, under the leadership of Bishop Laurence Plummer. She graduated from Hamilton High School in 1975, State Technical Institute with an Associates Degree in Computer Engineering Technology and a Bachelor’s Degree from Memphis State University in Computer Systems Technology.
Weslynn started her career with MLG&W, in 1990, as a Computer Software Specialist and retired as a Sr. Computer Software Analyst in 2014. Weslynn loved her job and the computer field. She loved her coworkers with such a passion and they loved her very much as well. Weslynn's coworkers always referred to her as "their hero".
In the year 2000, Weslynn was gifted by the Lord with a heart transplant. She became one of the poster children for the National Transplant Foundation. She had a kind heart and insightful ways.
Weslynn was united in marriage to her loving husband Michael B. Bates. To this union three children were born, DeMorrian Wesley Bates of Memphis, Danielle Micah Bates (Bobby Brown) of Marietta, Ga. and Daren Weston Bates of St. Louis, Mo. She has two siblings, Cynthia Roberts of St. Louis, Mo. and Sonja Michelle Leflore (Earl Sr.) of Olive Branch, Ms. and a grandson, Mason Bryce Brown of Marietta, Ga. Weslynn also leaves a host of loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, April 3, 2015 from 5-7 p.m. at Love Fellowship Ministries, 4473 Germantown Rd., Memphis, TN 38125. Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 4, 2015 at Love Fellowship Ministries, 4473 Germantown Rd., Memphis, TN 38125. Burial in Memphis Memory Gardens.
