Mother Dies While Waiting For Visit on Mother's Day
While awaiting arrival of her seven daughters and four sons, who were coming for a Mother's Day visit, Mrs. Katherine Albers, 78, long time resident of Platte county, died at her home in Platte Center at 10:30 a.m. yesterday. Although in poor health the past year, she had been bedfast only six weeks. Death resulted from complications of a heart ailment.
She was born Nov. 26, 1863, at Hanover, Germany, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. peter Reese, and came to the United states with her parents in 1881. the family came directly to Platte county and located on a farm 15 miles north of here.
Her marriage to Peter Henry Albers took place in Platte Center, Dec. 21, 1883. After their marriage they continued to live north of here and in 1896 moved to a farm in Burrows township west of Platte center. mr. Albers died august 26, 1916.
Quiet and unassuming, Mrs. Albers exemplified the life of the pioneer Nebraska homemaker, content in caring for her manifold household duties and her family as her chief interest in life.
She is survived by seven daughters, Mrs. T.R. Thomazin of Genoa, Mrs. F. Baltz of Fremont, Mrs. Edward Erickson of Genoa, Mrs. Will Lloyd of Lindsay, Mrs. Dave Parry of Genoa, Mrs. William Blessen of Platte Center, and Mrs. Owen Parry of Genoa; four sons, Henry of Platte Center, John of Chambers, Walter of Costa Mesa, California, and William of Fremont; and 35 grandchildren and 13 greatgrandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the family home in Platte Center and at 2:30 German Baptist church northeast of Platte center. Rev. W.E.tharp, pastor, will officiate, and burial will be in Baptist cemetery in Platte Center.
