Isaac Turner was born in Dekalb County, Tennessee, the son of a prominent local planter and slave owner. He fought in the Civil War as a member of 4th Tennessee Mounted Regiment, United States Army. Following the war, he brought his family to Texas and was one of the original settlers of Abbott in Hill County. Here he became a farmer, raised his large family and died in 1888 of Typhoid Fever.
