Elsie Ellen Barton Founds was the daughter of Charles Barton and Ella Adams, who were married in 1895, in Woodville, West Virginia. When Elsie was born, her mother died, so she was raised by her father's parents in Meigs County, Ohio. She married Joie Emerson Founds and they had seven children: Lillian, Emerson, Weldon, Evelyn, Leah, Garrett and Virgil. Joe and Elsie worked hard and saved their money to buy a farm in Chandlersville, Ohio. Elsie liked to garden, and enjoyed cooking, canning, sewing, crocheting, quilting, and teaching Sunday School at the Chandlersville Methodist Church. Joe and Elsie were blessed with 32 grandchildren, whose families and children now live all over the United States.
