June told the story often, of the time her son was 4 years old and took off with the dog. She was in the kitchen and looked out the window, she could see her son walking down the highway, which was on the opposite side of the field next to the house. Grandpa Millard jumped in the truck to get him, and he was so angry he decided to make his grandson walk all the way back to the house. When they finally arrived back home, June asked him what he was walking on the highway for and he said "the dog wanted to go and I was following the dog."
Millard lived with George and June on their farm for several years. June said her father swore like a sailor his entire life, but he worked very hard for his family.
