Doris Thompson Beasley

Doris M. "Sis" Thompson Beasley died Dec. 2, 2011 at 82 years of age. Mrs. Beasley was two days short of her 83rd birthday.

A native and resident of Washington County, Mrs. Beasley was a resident of the Hobson community and a member of the Hobson Assembly of God.

Retired from International Paper Company in Mobile, she and her husband, Horace, owned and operated "Lake Marie", which was a restaurant in Hobson. She was renowned as a wonderful cook and always a gracious hostess. Her many friends agree, she had a wonderful sense of humor that will be greatly missed.

A great lover of yard sales, she and her husband attended the "World's Longest Yard Sale" a few years ago.

Preceding her in death were her mother and father, Leona Goldman Thompson and Reuben Cornelius Thompson Sr.; three sisters, Mary Catherine Manning, Alberta Beech and Sophie Grantham; and brother, Reuben Cornelius "R.C." Thompson Jr.

Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Horace E. Beasley of Hobson; one son, Terry W. (Donna) Beasley of Chatom; grandson, Brandon Beasley of Chatom; four sisters, Elma Heathcoe and Frances Ledbetter, both of Mobile, Edith Mae Tate of Frankville and Nettie Sue (Norman) Coaker of Hobson; and four brothers, Leroy (Gayle) Thompson and Eddie Dean (Mary Ann) Thompson, both of Chatom, Jerry (Margie) Thompson of Frankville and Kenneth (Sybil) Thompson of Hobson.

Funeral services were Dec. 3 at Hobson Assembly of God in Hobson with the Revs. Steve Foster and Jim O'Neal officiating. Interment was in the Jones-Beech Cemetery in Hobson under the direction of St. Stephens Funeral Home in St. Stephens.
