Norma was the daughter of Jeff Remore Wheeler and Addie Lee Luce Wheeler. She attended school in Graham. She and Carl Akers were married on July 19,1958, in Graham. He preceded her in death on June 5, 2006.
Norma was a resident of Archer City since 1970 and had
sewn for the public for 40 years. Her hobbies included oil painting and flower gardening. "Baby," as she was affectionately known by her grandsons, enjoyed going
to sporting events to watch them. She also loved storytelling and playing cards with her grandsons. She attended Evangel Temple in Wichita Falls.
In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by one sister, Joyce Goldsmith.
Survivors at time of death included four daughters, Carla Akers and Cindy Akers, both of Wichita Falls, Donna Bates and husband Ray of Archer County and Marsha Boone and husband Tracey of Archer City; two sisters, Barbara Gilmore of Graham and Lois Newsom and husband Frankie of Loving; one brother, Robert Wheeler and wife Vickie of Mineral Wells; five grandsons, Justin, Hayden and Reagan Bates and Shelby and Straton Boone.
