Rolyn "Bud" E. Anderson age 87, of Rathdrum, Idaho passed on Tuesday, August 9, 2011 at Kootenai Medical Center, Coeur d'Alene. He was born May 3, 1924 in Houston, Minnesota to Walter & Lenore (Steele) Anderson. Bud grew up in Houston before joining the U.S. Army Air Corp in 1941 and was a Bombardier during WW11. During his military career he went to Colby College for OCS. While attending College he met Katharine Faxon and they were married on July 19, 1945. After being stationed at the Pentagon he did a 3 ½ year tour in Vienna, Austria as a Special Agent in Counter Intelligence. Bud was then stationed at Norton AFB in San Bernardino, CA, where he was a Military Police Investigator. He also did a tour in Korea. After retiring from the military, Bud and Kay lived in San Bernardino with their 4 children, where Bud worked as a route manager for Bell Brand Foods. In 1988, they retired to Coeur d'Alene, ID.

Bud loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter, fisherman, and scuba diver. As a resident of Coeur d'Alene, Bud became one of the founding members of the Panhandle Chapter of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation. Bud was a Red Cross scuda diving instructor and a volunteer for the San Bernardino Sheriffs Dept. Underwater Recovery Unit. Bud also was a Little League Manager and Boy Scout Troop Leader. Bud loved to go camping with his family, spending most weekends and holidays at the beach and mountains of California and Baja, Mexico.

Bud is preceded in death by his mother and father, his sister, Lorayne Paavola, and his beloved wife of 61 years, Kay. Survivors include his 4 children and spouses, Charles and Lynn Anderson of Coeur d'Alene, ID, Douglas and Lynn Anderson of Reno, NV, Evelyn Rowley of Rathdrum, ID and Gregory and Rita Anderson of Topeka, KS; his 5 grandchildren, William Rowley, Jennifer Rowley, Amy Adkinson, Steven Anderson, and Ashley Anderson; and 7 great grandchildren, Madison Rowley, Colt and Caden Rowley, Zachary and Hailey Adkinson, and Carter and Kennedy Anderson.

Visitation will be Monday, August 15, 2011 from Noon until service at the Yates Funeral Home, Coeur d'Alene Chapel. A funeral service will be 2:00 P.M. Monday, August 15, 2011 at Yates Funeral Home, Coeur d'Alene Chapel.
