Mrs. Eliza A. Allen, 80, a resident of Wood River for 40 years, died at 12:20 a.m. today in an Alton Hospital. She had been in falling health seven years. Before entering the hospital two months ago Mrs. Allen had lived at 136 Harnet St., Wood River.
She was born in Eldorado, May 17, 1885, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Ewing Bramlett. Prior to moving to Wood River she had resided for 20 years at Paris, Tenn.
Mrs. Allen was a member of Church of Christ, Central and Madison Avenues, Wood River. Her husband, James Kendall Allen, whom she married Dec. 25, 1901 in Oklahoma, died in 1922.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Joseph Hagen and Mrs. Melvin Montague, Wood River; a son, Euin Allen, Wood River; a sister, Mrs. Naomi Gladson, Peoria; 9 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. Three sons, Warren, Travis and David, preceded her in death.
The body is at Marks Mortuary where services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m.
Burial will be Monday at 3 p.m. in Suphar Academy Church of Christ Cemetery, Paris, Tenn.
Visiting hours at Marks Mortuary will be from 7 p.m. today until time of the funeral.
