Son of Jesse Haines (b. <1796> MD or PA, d. 1856 Muskingum Co.) and Catharine Erman Haines (1809-1896, see her bio in this cemetery). Brother of Amanda Haines Taylor, Emma Haines Lorimer, Julia Haines and Clara Haines. Never married. Lived in Norwich OH as a young man, but moved to Ripley, Lauderdale Co. TN around the Civil War. Acc. to one census he was a bridge builder by trade. After the war only made two brief visits to his OH birthplace until a few wks. before his death in Feb 1908.
