Bernice Franklin Adams was the daughter of William Benjamin "Ben" Franklin and Elizabeth "Betty" Smith Franklin. She and her twin, Bertrum Franklin, were born October 17, 1909. Bertrum passed away on January 4, 1910, from meningitis and autotoxmenia, at the age of 2 months 17 days.

Bernice was married to Bill Noah Adams. Bernice was a homemaker and Bill was a barber in Clarendon, TX. They had 4 sons, William Grover who used the nicknames "Bill", "Dub", and "W.G.", Billy Robert (who preferred to be called "Billy Bob", Raymond Carrol, and Donald. Dub, Billy Bob and Raymond all served either in the Navy or Marines, and all went to college, earned their degrees, taught school, were coaches, and then administrators (principals and superintendents). Donald was a policeman.

Her husband, Bill Adams, passed away on February 22, 1967. After a few years, Bernice married Bill Littlefield. He passed away before she did.

Bernice's siblings were Jasper, Barney, Draper, Jewel, Earl, Bertrum, Violet, Loyd, Ann, Inez, Iris, and Lottie. Inez, Iris, Lottie and one other baby all were stillborn.
