Roger Eugene Schlax, 70, of Kansas City, Kansas, died January 3, 1999, at home, of cancer. Memorial services will be held at 3p.m. Wednesday, January 6, 1999 at the Maple Hill Funeral Home. Memorials may be directed to the Hospice of donor's choice.
Roger was born in 1928, in St Joseph, Trenton, MO. At age 3 the family moved to St. Joseph and lived there until he was 16. The family then moved to Hiawatha, KS. There with his folks they owned and operated the Firestone Store. He married Jeanne Frakes in 1949. They moved to the family farn in Muscotah, KS and lived there for 43 years and raised their 3 children, Roger, Rogena, and Ronda. Roger worked with Conklin Company and became area Manager in 1978. He retired from the farm in 1986 and moved to Omaha, NE to be near family. They moved to Kansas City in May of 1998.
Roger was an avid hunter and fisherman, and enjoyed his many hours of fishing and recreation at the lake of the Ozarks with his family. He was a member of the United Church of Muscotah, The Hiawatha B.P. Elks, and was active inthe National Guard.
Survivors include: wife, Jeanne Schlax, of the home; Son: Roger Schlax Jr., of Kansas City, KS; Daughters: Ronda Schlax of Omaha, NE, and Rogena Smithey of Sunrise Beach, MO; Three grandsons: Michael, Adam, and Lukas Schlax.
