Gregory Keith Cheser was the son of Raymond and June Cheser. In his younger years he was an excellent student earning many honors and accolades along the way.
Gregg had a lifelong love of music, and started his professional career in the late 60's as lead vocalist for "The Swiss Movement", opening for many nationally known bands, such as Janis Joplin & Jimi Hendrix. Gregg became known in the Hill Country, and across Texas as a very imaginative, accomplished and talented musician and songwriter. Gregg and his band, "The Pronto Brothers" were featured performers at the Texas Folklife Festival for over 25 years, and he was well known from Luchenbach to River Oaks - and following the 2001 release of his "Sweet Hills of Texas" CD he gained a following overseas as well.
Gregg was a truely good man with an amazing soul. He was inherently happy, laid back, mellow and naturally easy to be around. He always cared about other people, and was always ready with a open and friendly smile. Gregg had a true love of nature, and often found inspiration for his poetry & music therein.
Gregg is survived by His beloved mother, June Cheser of Fredericksburg; His devoted and loving longtime companion Joan White of Johnson City; His daughters Senisa Cheser and Stacie Rowe both of San Antonio, and thier mother Elaine Cheser of Fredericksburg; His son, David G Reed-Massey, of Fredericksburg; grandaughter Devyn Rowe of San Antonio, and grandson Austin Reed-Cales of Cleveland. He is also survived by two brothers and one sister; as well as hundreds of close friends and fellow musicians.
