Item: 14 July 1888: Last Saturday, George Adams of this village was returning from Portland on the evening train. During the stop at Sebago Lake he left the car, and while talking in the station, found that the train was moving.
He ran and attempted to get on board but failed, and was thrown under the cars. several of which passed over one leg, which was severed. He was taken home on the same train. The leg was amputated and dressed by Dr. Swazey and is now doing fine.
