Younger of two children of William M.(d1969) and Cauline 'Lena' Rutherford (d1966) Shelton, she married Lonnie Ansley in 1939. They divorced in 1966. Lonnie died, probably in Mesa, AZ, about 1974.
They had two daughters and a son. Son Larry Kenneth (1941-1993 FL), an Episcopal priest, also died before her.
Jennie was legally blind from age 16 and had the use of only three fingers of each hand; however, she was a master doll maker and repairer and made wonderful quilts and wall hangings. She arranged to rebuild her house when the interior was gutted in a fire only a few years before her death.
She had resided in Hoopeston, IL for more than 70 years and was a charter member of Westside Church of the Nazarene.
She was a past member of Vermilion County Blind Association.
