Daughter of Edwin George Lowe and Ethel Jane(Berry)Lowe

Edith was a 50 year resident of Redlands, California at the time of her death. One of the original members of the Redlands Foot lighters, she acted in several of their productions. Before her nursing career, she had conducted a children's radio program in Hollywood and been active in the legitimate stage. She attended elementary school in Thames and Auckland, New Zealand and was a graduate of Monte St. Angelo College in Sydney, Australia. She received her degree as a registered nurse from Mary's Help Hospital School of Nursing in San Francisco, California and did postgraduate study in surgical nursing at Cook County Hospital, Chicago. In 1931 she was the first surgical nursing supervisor of Redlands Community Hospital. Before she retired from nursing in 1969, she had also been office nurse for Redlands physician Dr. Donald Brumbaugh and senior psychiatric nurse at Patton State Hospital, San Bernardino, California. She was a member of the California Nurses Association and the American Red Cross and a member of Trinity Episcopal Church, where she belonged to St. Catherine's Guild. She was buried on June 27, 1989 at 10AM at Hillside Memorial Park, Cortner-Pierce Bros Chapel handling arrangements. Memorial contributions were to be made to Trinity Episcopal Church, Redlands.
