Victor John Bair, 71, of 2947 Jefferson Drive, Chambersburg, died at 7:35 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 12, 1978, at the Veterans' Administration Hospital in Martinsburg, W.Va. following an extended illness. He was a former resident of Shade Gap. Born May 3, 1907, in Shade Gap, he was the son of Grant and Jenny (Rhine) Bair. He was united in marriage to Audrey Rowe, Orbisonia, in Hagerstown, Md., on April 18, 1929. In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Robert Bair, Salt Lake City, Utah. Five grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Mabel Krepps, Shade Gap, also survive. Five sisters and two brothers preceded him in death. He was of the Methodist faith. He was a member of the F.&A.M. Cromwell Lodge No. 572, Orbisonia, and the B.P.O.E. No. 976, Huntingdon, and the Madden - Wennick Post of the American Legion, No. 518, in Orbisonia. Mr. Bair was a retired barber, and was a veteran of World War II. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 16, from the Raymond W. Ott Funeral Home, Orbisonia, with the Rev. Robert Miller, of St. Paul's Methodist Church, Chambersburg, officiating. Interment will be made in the Orbisonia Cemetery. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday evening, and on Thursday until the hour of the service. Masonic memorial services will be held by the Cromwell Lodge at 8 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
